Translate for Her started in 2014 with the mission to break language barriers and provide access to community information for ethnic minority women in Hong Kong. Our platform has gradually evolved into a vibrant space for information sharing and mutual support, actively driven by ethnic minority women and volunteers.
We have witnessed how powerful and resourceful the ethnic minority community can be as they provide bottom-up mutual support for one another. Here at Translate for Her, we see the value in everyone. We cultivate and encourage self-initiated mutual help practices among ethnic minority women. It is in these self-initiated efforts that we see true empowerment and a step toward gender equality.
As AI tools now handle basic translation, we are taking our mission further into cultivating an even more organic women’s community. We bring women together through social engagement, art, and co-learning. Moving forward, we are also dedicated to producing critical discourse on gender issues, hosting creative workshops, and developing self-published works—paving the way for continuous empowerment and grassroots community agency.
